1. ‘Mtaachana tu’
This is a Kiswahili
phrase that most youths use to discourage those in a relationship. In
translation, it changes to, “you will just divorce with time”. It is used by
others against their friends who are in a relationship to let them know that they
are not the first people to be in love, many people have been on that shoe but
the results were not successful. When you say this to your friends, be careful,
you might be ruining your relationship in the future that you will eventually fall
into. It interprets this about you, that due to the results you came with from
your last relationship, you are not ready to fall into another one, since you
are afraid that the results might just be the same. Then it is time to stop it,
feel good to encourage your friends and let them enjoy their time.
2.
‘God has forgotten about me.’
This is
another phrase that is always on the lips of most youths, it is always easy for
someone to narrate this phrase out whenever you feel like things have decided
not go your way. God is the creator of everything, living and non-living surviving
on the earth’s surface. There is not even a single day He will let you go
alone, he is always by your side to ensure you get what you deserve on the
phase of the earth. Sometimes it can be so tough and the life as a youth may
deal with you as if you are cursed, it is normal just know this that you are
not the only person surviving with difficulties, there are some people who are
struggle more than you do. It is time to avoid with all the means and ensure
this phrase never come out of your mouth, direct your mind to focus.
3. ‘You will need me later’
This is
common with the ones in a relationship that are to break u mostly the reason
being issues to do with lack of trust from one another. It is not good for a
man to throw back words at his girlfriend when things get worse with them in a
relationship. They are always expected to solve issues maturely. Whenever you
begin quarreling with your woman word for word as a man, you are belittling yourself
without knowing it thinking that you are making her respect you. Know this,
respect is no gained by shouting upon others, it is the issue to do with
calmness and learning to solve issues in a mature way. When a lady wants to
take her path, let her be, stop acting as if you are so much worthy for her to
have you. Do not say this phrase, let her come if she feels like since saying
this may make you lose her for good and now think of it if you still love her.
4. ‘My brother spoil yourself, life is
short’
Talking of
spoiling yourself this has got majorly to do with entertainment programs, it is
a phrase used against the holy-Joes of today youth-hood. Those who have friends, who are more into
entertainments, are the victims of this phrase. A friend finds it uncomfortable
to be raving without his or her friend; it comes with a kinda thinking that he
or she is the most lost, that is, the bad king or queen, something that nobody ever
waits to fall into. We mean, people tend to like it when they do something, let’s
say raving, as a group not by themselves. When they notice that raving and all
those stuffs are not your thing, they bomb you with this phrase to help you
change your way of thinking. If you are the list of such a friend who sways the
other into performing something they are not into, then you need to stop
because you are destroying your future too.
5. ‘Haki wewe ni fala sana’
Another Swahili
phrase mostly found among age mates trying to enjoy their laughter. Do you know
what it translates into in English? It changes to, “you are very stupid”. Many youths
say this with an aim to pardon their friend to let them know that their joke is
killing him or her, without realizing that you are insulting the other party
who is the joke owner. The question is, why have to insult someone when the
joke is sweet in the name of enjoying the conversation. Avoid this and work
towards improving your conversation skills needed for better etiquette.
